Our Story

Helping Hands Wellness Center Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by two sisters.

One, a first-generation, queer, Indigenous-Latina immigrant, experienced firsthand the barriers BIPOC face entering higher education and the mental health field. The other pushed her to turn that experience into an organization.

Together they built Helping Hands to close the gap in training and resources for BIPOC therapists and healers - bringing in elders, guides, and mentors who reflect the communities they serve.

We come from the land of the endless spring, Mayan territory now known as Guatemala, carrying the resilience of the matriarchs before us. That inheritance shapes everything we do.
